United States - South Pacific Scholarship Program
2009 Competition!
Applications are invited from any academically talented citizens of the eleven (11) eligible countries (Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu). We are looking for students with proven academic ability, demonstrated leadership qualities, and a willingness for or experience in community service for studies beginning in January 2010. Priority is given to those who do not have extensive prior experience in the United States.
Limited application packets may also be obtained from U.S. Embassy Suva or consulates located in Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand; Suva, Fiji; Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea; and Majuro, Marshall Islands (for Kiribati) or from the Award Services Office at the East-West Center, 1601 East-West Road, Honolulu, Hawaii 96848-1601. The application deadline is February 1, 2010 for awards beginning in early August 2010. Awards are expected to be announced on the Internet site provided above by April 1, 2010.
