Out of District Applicant
Applicants Who Do not Reside in the Suva Consular District:
Under the regulations governing visa applications, Suva may accept a nonimmigrant visa application from an individual who is physically present, but not resident, in the Suva consular district. Applicants who neither reside nor work in the Suva Consular District should be aware that they may have difficulty qualifying for a visa if they apply in Suva. A consular officer in Suva will in many cases find it difficult to make a favorable determination as he or she will likely be unfamiliar with the social and economic conditions, language, and official documents of the applicant's home country. In general, applicants may find it advantageous to submit their applications at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate responsible for processing applications from their country of residence. Applicants who apply out of their consular district run the risk of having their visa refused. Although officers may be sympathetic to applicants' reasons for preferring to apply in Suva, their visa decisions are based on U.S. Immigration Law.
If after having read the above information you still plan to apply in Suva, you may schedule an interview appointment through our automated system.
