Public Notice

U.S. Consular Officer's Travel to Tonga
February 13-17, 2012

The U.S. Consular Officer from the U.S. Embassy in Suva will be in Tonga shortly to attend to consular affairs, including providing consular services to both Tongan and American citizens.  Please note that the Consular Officer will not accept petitions for immigrant visas during this visit.

In order to obtain an appointment for reports of birth, passports, and notary services, please email your request to consularsuva@state.gov.  You must provide us with a valid return email address in order to schedule an appointment.

For information about required documents for passports and reports of birth, check our website at http://suva.usembassy.gov/passport_services.html.   In addition to the original documents, you will need to bring photocopies of ALL original documents, IDs, and passports.  A certified English translation is required for any document that is not originally in English.

Once your request for an appointment has been approved, a consular employee will advise you by email of the venue, date and time of your appointment.  You will be advised to review the documents you need to present.  You will also be advised of the fees you need to pay.  You must come to your appointment with a certified bank (ANZ or WBC) check in the exact amount in U.S. dollars made payable to the U.S. Embassy, Suva.   For security reasons, cash is not accepted.

LAPTOP NONIMMIGRANT VISA (LNIV):  You must meet all LNIV requirements as listed on this link before you can schedule an appointment via consularsuva@state.gov. LNIV application must be submitted to the embassy by no later than February 3, 2012.

Failure to provide all required documents and fee payment of USD140 by February 3, 2012 may result in cancellation of your appointment with the consular officer.

Because of the limited time available, the consular officer will meet only with those who have made appointments in advance.  Walk-in appointments for LNIV are not accepted.
