Jefferson Fellowships

The East-West Center in Honolulu co-ordinates the Jefferson Fellowships, a travel-study fellowship that will be awarded to six American journalists and six journalists from the Asia-Pacific region.

Who Can Apply: Mid-level print and broadcast journalists from the United States, Asia and the Pacific.

In the 2004 Dialogue/Study Tour: Fellows spent a week at the East-West Center discussing regional issues with experts. The Americans then traveled to Beijing, Tokyo and Manila for 16 days. The Asians and Pacific islanders traveled to Washington, D.C., Chicago and San Francisco. Fellows then returned to Honolulu for follow-up discussions.

Fellowship Announcement are normally made in December and applications close in January of the new year.
